Visiting Lecturer - Adam Higton

This lecture was probably one of the most interesting ones I've ever been to with a visiting Illustrator. Adam Higton was extremely professional and clearly knows what he's talking about when it comes to his practice.
He inspired me to make more collages making the best use out of the paper I have (practice working at a smaller size). As well as experimenting more with the same images and seeing how they can be extended into different mediums.

Adam Higton has his own world that he has created with a combination of nature and the human form (as well as references to witchcraft). Being a musician allows him to create music that goes along with his artwork making it more interactive for his target audience (children).

Study Task 1B

These images inspire my creative practice with the use of bold yet simple imagery which can sometimes show a darker sense of humour to express the meanings behind them. Whilst being funny they express an opinion which might not be noticed at first glance, which is similar to my own work.

Study Task 1A

This task allowed me to discover that some of my strengths and weaknesses have altered over the summer. I have started to use a diary to plan my time efficiently which had a negative impact on my potential last year. After being told about the business side of illustration I want to learn more about web design and networking so I’m prepared for the world after the final year. The task also made me realise that I could possibly make better use of online resources as I struggled to fill the last section of the sheet.
